I’m very happy to report that designer Kaffe Fassette will be visiting West Michigan in May 2009. The details have yet to be finalized, but I chatted briefly with Julie Anderson, the owner of Threadbender Yarn Shop in Wyoming, Mich., yesterday about her plans to bring Kaffe and Brandon Mably to town to help her celebrate her milestone shop anniversary.
The tentative plan is this: Brandon will teach a workshop on Sunday, May 3 and one on Monday, May 4 and Kaffe will lecture on one of those evenings. Prices and times have not been set yet. I’ll post the specifics when I get them.
This is great news for West Michigan creative types who admire Kaffe’s incredible work in knitting, needlepoint, patchwork, painting and mosaic. There, now we another reason to look forward to spring!
Speaking of designers visiting West Michigan… I just received word that Project Runway finalist and West Michigan native Daniel Vosovic will be signing copies of his book, “Fashion Inside Out: Daniel V’s Guide to How Style Happens From Inspiration to Runway and Beyond” from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Nov 28 at Schuler Books & Music 28th St., in Grand Rapids.
