Since childhood, art and craft has been my saving grace. In good times and bad, I make stuff to feel centered and alive. This belief that art and craft can positively affect mental health inspired the creation of this podcast in 2006. And CraftSanity™ isn’t just my brand, it’s my mantra.

Because I feel so strongly about the healing power of craft, I wanted to help Mary Colucci, executive director of the Craft Yarn Council, spread the word about the organization’s 30 Days of Creative Ways to #StitchAwayStress campaign that kicks off today and runs through the whole month of April – which happens to be Stress Awareness Month. Tune in to this week’s show to hear my discussion with Mary about her own creative journey, the Stitch Away Stress campaign and the Craft Yarn Council’s mission to get the world crafting.

Throughout the month, the Craft Yarn Council will be featuring a variety of fun and educational posts for using knitting and crochet to relax, relieve stress and boost mood on its Facebook pages.

Check back here April 6, for a free stress-busting pattern from Twinkie Chan, a talented crocheter and food-related accessory artist who will be a guest on the podcast next week.
And here is a video the Craft Yarn Council put together detailing the healing power of craft.

Thanks sponsors: Thanks to my Patreon sponsors and ACS Home and Work for sponsoring this podcast.

acshomeandwork-300x124I discovered ACS when I was looking for a local source for flour sack tea towels to use for my printmaking and embroidery projects. I’m happy to be supporting a West Michigan-based company with my business and ACS is graciously sponsoring the CraftSanity Podcast.

Local West Michigan listeners can shop ACS products at the Red Door, 6837 Lake Michigan Dr, in Allendale Charter Township. It’s the ACS outlet and also a pickup location for locals who want to order flour sack tea towels and other goods and skip the shipping costs. Visit Red door for a variety of tea towels and other home goods.
