This weekend I’m headed “home” to visit my family in suburban Detroit and participate in Maker Faire Detroit. If you love craft and all things DIY, chances are good that you’ll enjoy this event that is held at The Henry Ford museum, 20900 Oakwood Blvd. in Dearborn, Mich.
I attended this event last year and enjoyed meeting the craft vendors and makers of impressive things. It’s a haul from my home in suburban Grand Rapids, but it’s worth the long drive to attend an event that celebrates the wonderful art of making things from scratch. LOVE that! My husband and I shot the video embedded below at last year’s event. Check it out to get a sense of what Maker Faire is all about.
On Saturday I’m headed to Maker Faire to interview participants, shoot photos and record video. Then I’m going to be selling CraftSanity Looms of all sizes, weaving supplies and copies of CraftSanity Magazine on Sunday. If you want to learn how to weave on a peg loom, come and find me Sunday in the craft vendor area or come to my weaving demo at 4 p.m. and I’ll have you weaving like a pro in no time. Seriously, it’s very easy.
I have to get back to tearing up fabric and making looms, but I hope to see you this weekend at Maker Faire Detroit. Tell me your story and feel free to bring show & tell. I LOVE that and I’m always looking for projects to feature in CraftSanity Magazine.
