I just finished stitching the binding of a tiny art quilt for an exciting new collaborative project I’m working on with a new pal. You’ll be hearing plenty about this soon, but I wanted to share an image of the last thing I stitched on the quilt (besides the binding, of course).
Now that this piece is finished I’m trying to warm up to the idea of calling it “art.” I usually consider most of what I do “craft.” But this piece is not functional in any way and intended as art. I need to get over this reluctance to call my art “art,” and hope this monthly project will help my work evolve a bit.
Those of you who listen to the podcast know that I love to explore that differences and similarities between art and craft. What do you think about it? Are you an artist or crafter, or does it depend on what you’re making?
