As many of you know I’m working with my husband, Jeff, to put the finishing touches on the premiere issue of CraftSanity Magazine, a project that would not have been possible without the support of kindred spirits. When I put the word out that I was launching this project I wasn’t sure who was going to join me on the adventure. And I’ve been inspired by the amazing people who enthusiastically jumped on board.
In the coming days I will introduce you to the whole crew, but today I’d like to start by introducing you to Briar Rose Fibers, our exclusive yarn sponsor for Issue 1. I was beyond delighted when Chris Roosien, the owner of Briar Rose Fibers, told me she wanted to be involved and bought a full page ad in my imaginary magazine. Don’t get me wrong. I’m really working on a magazine, but it meant a lot to have an established independent businesswoman jump right in the boat with me even though she couldn’t see the vision in my head. That was huge. Since then, several small business owners – many longtime CraftSanity supporters have followed suit – and I really appreciate it.
Chris generously donated some of her beautiful hand painted yarn to use to make samples for the magazine and I’ve had a blast knitting and crocheting with it. The colors are rich and beautiful and the yarn is wonderful to photograph, too.
And spinners and felters, you’ll be happy to know that Chris hand paints roving, too. So lovely.
Today I want to share some exciting news. Briar Rose Fibers is offering a 10 percent discount to all of you until Dec. 15. The discount code is “Holiday.” And to sweeten the deal, Chris is giving away two $30 gift certificates for her shop. Two winners will be randomly selected from the comments below.
Ok, so tell us what you’d like to make if you win a gift certificate for some lovely hand-painted yarn from Briar Rose Fibers. The winners will be randomly selected Saturday at 10 a.m. EST, so be sure to leave your comment before then. Good luck everyone!
* In case you’re wondering… Jeff and I are planning to wrap up the magazine layout tonight. Then we’ll proof it and send it off to the printer. I’ll post another update soon. Thanks so much for your patience and encouragement.
*** UPDATE: The contest closed today at 10 a.m. and the winners are… Heather W. and Kati! Congrats, ladies!
