This week’s guest is knitter Susan B. Anderson,
the author of “Itty- Bitty Hats: Cute and Cuddly Caps
to Knit for Babies and Toddlers.” I had the pleasure
of meeting Susan when she came to West Michigan for
her recent book tour, and I’m delighted to share her
story with you.
Susan is a 42-year-old mother of four children, living in Madison, Wis. Tune in to hear how this former teacher has made a name for herself on the knitting scene. "Itty-Bitty Hats" is an impressive first book for Susan, whose designs appeal to all ages. (The Birthday Cake hat pattern on p. 130 was an absolute joy to make for my youngest daughter's first birthday.) This book appeals to experienced and novice knitters.
Check out Susan’s blog, online shop and charity work with
Knittng for Noggins. And
here's an interesting look inside Susan’s sketchbook.
She let me photograph it when we met in Grand
Rapids, Mich. Enjoy the yarn swatches and
colorful illustrations that were the seeds of
inspiration for her book project.
This
Week's Project: As special holiday treat, try
out this free pattern from Susan for a festive
Santa Baby tree ornament.
This Week's Contest(s):
Susan is donating a signed copy of her book to a lucky CraftSanity listener. To enter, please leave a comment below about your homemade crafty tradtions. Since this book was the inspiration for a family birthday cake hat tradition in my home, I’d love to hear about your homemade traditions, too. Do you have anything in your family that has been passed down for generations? Or do you have an idea for a new homemade tradition that you’d like to share?
Add a comment below, then copy it into an e-mail with your address so I can get you into the random drawing. I can’t wait to hear from you. Good luck everyone! The deadline to enter is Tuesday, Dec. 19.
*** Please note the deadline for getting into the giveaway for a copy of "Craftivity" by Tsia is Tuesday, Dec. 12.
