Grand Rapids CRAFT CLUB!

quilt2.jpg

If you live in West Michigan and interested in crafting with a group, I’d like to invite you a join me for CRAFT CLUB.

Here are the details:

CRAFT CLUB is free and open all adult crafters.

With a little creative shove from an artist friend, I started the Craft Club at the YMCA in Grand Rapids in September 2007. At first the club was restricted to Y members, but now it’s open to anyone who wants to attend.

ddh-facility.jpgWe meet at 6:30 p.m. on the last Wednesday of the month (with a few exceptions) at the David D. Hunting YMCA in Grand Rapids, 475 Lake Michigan Drive NW.

You’re welcome to come as you are and bring a project to work on. Sometimes we make projects as a group, but most of the time we work on projects we bring from home. Knitting, crocheting, quilting and paper crafts are popular mediums that we work in. I schedule workshops on ocassion. Those are usually led by me, a fellow craft club member or a guest artist.

CRAFT CLUB is a mix of artists and crafters of all ages who attend when they can. Men are welcome, but a rare sight at meetings. I’ve been asked if the group is a clique to which I always respond with an emphatic: “NO!” I don’t do cliques, and would never devote my free time to facilitating one. My goal is to make everyone feel welcome and inspired.

Show and tell is always welcome, so please bring projects to show the group.

E-mail me to sign up for the mailing list.

I hope to craft with you soon!

I wish there was a craft club near me. Perhaps I’ll have to start one in London. Hmm…

Hello. I live near Dallas, Texas. I am a 3 year cancer survivor wanting so much to learn how to knit.

There are a only a couple of yarn shops close to where I live, and I took knitting lessons at one of the shops. It was supposed to be a one -on-one class, but there was another student in the class with me, plus constant interruptions, so I came away very disappointed. And I am right back where I started – still wanting to learn to knit.

If anyone one has any suggestions on how I can learn to knit- maybe a video – please, I would sure welcome your advice and suggestions.

Thank you for your time.

I love to do crafts. I have been making and selling my crafts.
Thank You for the advice.
