These are the sweet handmade ornaments I received in this year’s Craft Club swap and I love them. Elizabeth crocheted the adorable apron, Debbie (who is super talented and totally needs to start a blog to show off her work) knitted the cute little cupcake and Catherine made the stocking complete with an “I love handmade” pin AND stuffed said apron with lovely handmade earrings.

And a very special bonus surprise was a this wonderful pattern to make mini aprons from Joy. I LOVE it! Thank you so much! (It’s Simplicity #2748, in case you’re wondering.)

The roads were terrible here Tuesday evening when we did the exchange, but I think I would have driven through fire to get there. Sometimes a crafty woman just needs to sit around a table with other crafty women, sip hot chocolate and feel that for at least a couple hours everything is right with the world.

This year I broke with the tradition of making my ornaments out of fabric or yarn and went with paper clay. These are the ornaments Martha inspired me to make. Here’s a look at how they turned out…

This postcard traveled all the way from London and landed in my P.O. Box today. It’s from my CraftSanity postcard swap partner, Michelle, and it’s fantastic. The swap theme was spring and Michelle wrote: “… my inspiration was from the forced sprouting of lima beans,” a project she did as a kid in school. (I loved sprouting seeds in science class and still get quite a kick out of growing plants from seeds in the garden.)

Textured with stitching and even a little knitted sprout, this postcard is very impressive and something easily characterized as art. Very nice work, Michelle. I love it!

I finally set up a flickr account for the CraftSanity postcard swap, so check it out. If you participated in the fabric postcard swap, you should have received an e-mail invite from me to join the CraftSanity Postcard Swap 2008 group. If you didn’t, please let me know.

I can’t wait to see pictures of all the postcards. Cheers! – JAH

It’s coming down to the wire for those of us participating in the first ever CraftSanity postcard swap. The theme is spring and the deadline to mail your postcard to your swap partner is Monday, March 31. So it’s go time, folks!

Even though I’m riding the deadline, I decide that my original and quick idea was too boring. So, now I’m foolishly embroidering a whole new post card to send to London. I hope it turns out the way I invision it in my head.

Please remember to snap a picture of your card before you drop it in the mail. I’m still planning to start a flickr page for this swap, so we can post photos of our cards after they reach their destinations.

Please e-mail me when you mail your cards, so I can keep track of how the swap is going. If, for some reason, you can’t make the deadline, please let me know, so I can inform your partner.

Godspeed to the rest of you who will be scrambling this weekend and congrats to those who have already mailed off their cards.

Okay, I have to get back to editing my next podcast. I have a sponsor for this one, so it’s all very exciting.

P.S. Thank you, Debbie, for sharing the link to an interesting site created by Linda Franz. If you’re a Jane Austen fan and a quilter, you should check this out. I enjoyed reading Linda’s pdf about the benefits of hand piecing.
