CraftSanity Print Shop releases first batch of ‘Love’ towels
After two years of practicing our printmaking skills, the first batch of CraftSanity flour sack tea towels have been posted in the shop.
We’re starting with our “Love” print. This print was designed by my sweet daughter, Amelia. And it marks the beginning of what is shaping up to be a wonderful collaboration and fantastic creative adventure. It all started in 2012 when Amelia, then 7, got hooked on printmaking at a free workshop and inspired me to pick up this art form again after a failed attempt in 2007.
On Christmas Eve 2012, Amelia received a little blue press as a present from my father. It was made of scrap wood and pieces of the old cupboards from my parents’ house. Amelia loved it and told my father on the spot. I think I loved it even more.
On Christmas Day, Amelia drew this “Love” design on a piece of paper and asked me to carve her drawing into a block. I was happy to – ecstatic, actually.
We started making prints as soon as the carving was done and I think we both knew immediately that it was just the beginning of something wonderful. Amelia made many practice prints with her little blue press and we have since upgraded to a Conrad etching press. After two years of practice, we’re ready to print this design on tea towels and send them out into the world.
We hope these Love towels will bring a little handmade cheer to all who use and display them in their homes.
The towels measure approximately 21″ x 33″ and the “Love” print colors are: red, salmon pink, mint green and light blue. Let us know if you are interested in another color. We have lots of ink. : )
