A Knit And Crochet Combo: The Granny Square Hat Is Complete
I finished knitting the top of Abby’s new hat over the weekend. Thanks to those who voted in the comments and via Twitter for knit or crochet. I went with the popular vote and knitted around the band of granny squares to complete the hat. I like how it turned out and so do my daughters. Therefore a second hat is happily in progress.
I love working without a pattern. It really enhances the stitching experience. If you’ve never gone off road with your stitching, I encourage you to try it some time. It’s fun to create on the fly.

Hey there, that hat is very cool! I wouldn’t mind wearing something like that. I did a granny scarf once, I wonder where it is now? ;-)
Thanks for another year of great posts and podcasts Jennifer, you rock! Happy New Creative Year to you and yours!

This is wonderful. About a year ago I tried making a hat using granny squares as a base, and got so frustrated that I stashed the pieces in the bottom of a closet. You’ve inspired me to dig it out and give it another try.
