Craft The Vote and Other Stuff, Too.

ctvwall.jpg

Hello everyone. It’s been very busy here at CraftSanity headquarters. I made a new “Craft The Vote” apron, road tested it at a quilt show over the weekend and will be making some minor modifications. What? This doesn’t sound like important work? Well, I’ve been doing a lot of other stuff, too, but I can’t get to any of my other photos at the moment because my husband is backing up my computer. Soooo, I’m going to wait to post the pictures of a fun weekend of craft.

I can tell you that I’m working on a Halloween decorating story for my newspaper. I will be posting Halloween-related project info throughout the month on this site, so I’m interested in hearing all of your Halloween project ideas. Have a great tutorial you’d like to see featured on CraftSanity? Send me a note. (Official submission guidelines are forthcoming, and so in my next podcast.)

I cleaned out three pumpkins this evening and I’m letting the seeds dry out with plans to roast them tomorrow after work. I was thinking about using garlic salt, but let me know if any of you have tried anything more exotic like cinnamon sugar or something wild like that. I’m also eyeballing those seeds and thinking they could make interesting beads for the girls. Hmmm.

craftvote.jpgOh, and speaking of crafting the vote, I’d like to see what campaign-related art you folks are making. I’m a journalist, so I can’t endorse a candidate, but I can encourage you all to get out and vote. Please post links below to your handmade election 2008 creations. It’s time to Craft The Vote people!

Very crafty, you! I think it needs a big skirt and some attitude, just like those women long ago who quilted political blocks into their pioneer quilts…

I love the apron-it kind of reminds me of School House Rock. I suggest a little tamari (or soy sauce) on your pumpkin seeds maybe with a dash or sesame oil and/or cayenne. Yum. I am not a journalist and can therefore give my unabashed opinion.
GO OBAMA!!!!

Politics…the brain so cannot take them right now, lol! Halloween is our familys big holiday! got the goodies alll finished and the yard set up yesterday. Now just smaller crafts during the month. We started a hallows eve tree last year which simply started with a large branch in a pot and we modified finds from the dollar store, works for us! (and also has lots of odd recycled items on it) One of our fav seed combos is witha bit of tamari (or soy) and sprinkled wasabi powder. Gives a good kick! also an over the counter jerk seasoning works well too.

The apron is FABULOUS! I love cinnamon, sugar and a pinch of nutmeg. Chili powder with a squirt of lime is amazing too.

I administer the blog The Obama Craft Project ( http://sewer-sewist.com/obamacraftproject ) and while it’s candidate-specific, I’ve thus far posted 90 craft projects that folks have submitted. It’s quite inspiring what crafters all over the country are creating.

I’ve been missing your blog entries, so it was good to see you today! I love the apron. I wouldn’t have thought of that medium for that purpose. LOVE IT!
