Sharon Schamber Entertains Quilters In Grand Rapids

s5.jpg

WYOMING, MICH. – The parking lot was packed and quilters were lined up out the door when I arrived.

We all came to hear master quilter Sharon Schamber  talk about her amazing quilts during a demonstration lecture hosted by the West Michigan Quilter’s Guild.

Sharon’s work is impressive when you see the photos online, but I just about collapsed when I saw her quilts in person. The are absolutely stunning. My photos won’t do them justice, but this will give you a sense of what we got to see.

Sharon demonstrated a great applique technique that I can’t wait to try. In addition to a boat-load of natural talent, her secret weapon appears to be Elmer’s washable school glue in stick and bottle form. I’ll be stocking up on that glue the first chance I get.

I didn’t get to take her class, but wished I would have when I saw these great flower pieces that Sharon taught her students to make. Lovely.

It was a pleasure to meet Sharon in person and see some of her fabulous quilts. Sharon is warm and funny and did a wonderful job keeping a roomful of crafty women entertained. If you want to know more about Sharon you can read my column about her here and listen to my interview with her on CraftSanity Episode 86.
