Sprouts!

sprout.jpg
They could be weeds, but the girls and I are hoping the green leaves poking up through the dirt in the planter boxes are in fact the start of our front porch spinach crop. Either way, these sprouts were an exciting discovery for my gardening assistants. Heck, who am I kidding? These little sprouts were pretty satisfying for me to see, too. I’m always amazed when something I plant from seed actually grows.

I did some handsewing tonight and must confess that I’m totally addicted to English paper piecing. I’ll be leading a workshop for beginners at the Y next Tuesday, so send me an e-mail if you’re local and interested in learning this fantastic (and super easy) quilting technique.

I’m crossing my fingers for that to be the spinach, I love to be in gardens but I don’t know much about them. It’s my dad who is the expert around here! :-)

I’ve recently tried paper piecing (made toy balls) – love it too! :-)

Gardening really has a great many rewards. No matter how many years I have been doing it, I always get excited at seeing tiny sprouts coming out through the soil. It still amazes me when I see something I have planted grow. So keep it up. You should grow more plants and do more gardening. The Internet is also a rich source of garden landscaping ideas you can try at home. Have a nice crafty day!
